Kane Michael returns from a year-long hiatus in prime form with Discovery, an EP comprising of two tracks that, while at first might seem like complete opposites, play perfectly off each other to paint a very clear picture of Kane Michael and the sound that is Lights Out Heads Down.
After years of relentless pursuit, a break was needed to allow time for Kane to focus, reflect, and refine both himself as an artist, and as a human being, to which Discovery explores.
The title track, 'Darkstar: Discovery', immediately sets the tone for the release, by blending techno, progressive house, and hints of rave. The driving bass and razor-sharp synth create a dark and mysterious atmosphere for the second entry to the Darkstar Chronicles and encapsulates the darker and more brooding moments in Kane's solitude.
Much like the changing of seasons, or the sun rising for a new day, 'Forgive Me Forget You' brings with it a sense of contentment and resolution; of leaving the past for the vision of a future self. Energizing arpeggiations over a tough rolling bassline retain the techno/progressive hybrid, washed over with sun-soaked elation.
